Racing cyclist felled by peacock

A tree surgeon chasing a bronze medal in a Norfolk cycle race was thwarted in his bid after being felled by a peacock.

Angus Jardine had looked upon the Cycling Club Breckland time trials as his best chance of picking up a bronze medal this year.

But instead, the 43-year-old was left with cuts and bruises, a torn skin suit and damaged bike after a painful encounter with one of the countryside’s most colourful characters last weekend.
