Romanian MPs reject sale of Dracula’s castle

Romania’s lower house of parliament on Tuesday approved a parliamentary report which says Bran Castle, better known as Dracula’s castle, cannot be sold by its owner.

The MPs, most of them from the left-wing opposition, also claim that the manner in which the 14th century building was returned to its legal owner, Archduke Dominic von Habsburg, was unlawful, due to procedural errors.

Located in the Carpathian Mountains, some 170 km north of the capital, Bucharest, the Castle is visited by about 450,000 tourists each year.
