Man Survives Fall From 50-Foot Cliff In Georgetown

A 39-year-old man fell off a 50-foot cliff in Georgetown and survived.

Sometime around 1 a.m. on Friday, Jason Stanford walked out of the Holiday Inn Express hotel near Blue Hole Park and crossed the street. While talking on the phone with a friend, fire officials said he climbed over the railing alongside the street and took one too many steps over the cliff.

“To survive that with only a broken leg [is amazing],” Howard Simson, a fisherman who is a longtime resident of the area. “There could have been a boulder or something under him. [He could have] fallen head first and broken a neck or something.”
