Californians want sex education in schools

More than three-quarters of state residents would like to see California school children talking about sex and want the government to pay for their condoms, according to the results of a new statewide poll released today.

Seventy-eight percent of California residents favor school sex education programs that teach children about obtaining and using contraceptives, according to the survey of more than 2,500 adults conducted by The Public Policy Institute of California from late November through mid-December. The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 2 percent.
