Robot cars conquer US desert race

Three driverless vehicles have crossed the finish line and entered the history books after traversing 210 kilometres of desert terrain guided only by laser sensors and onboard computers.

No winner was declared yet for the $2 million prize in the race, sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to spur the development of driverless vehicles they hope will one day carry water, fuel and other supplies for the US military in war zones.
