Model fired for being “Too Sexy” for Australian Price Is Right

‘Too sexy’ for this show
From: Sunday Herald Sun

Game show model Samantha Steele has been dumped from television for being too sexy.

Price Is Right producers ordered her off the Channel Nine show on Wednesday, claiming she did not fit the show’s “family image”.

“They said I had too much of a sexy image for the show,” Ms Steele told the Sunday Herald Sun.

Ms Steele, 22, said producers discovered raunchy pictures of her on the internet, but said she was shocked that her image had led to her being dropped because producers encouraged all the models to be flirtatious and sexy.

“They (the producers) were more than happy to get their rating, from the 18-22 year-old boys,” she said. “Toward the end of last year we were told to tone it down a little bit to get the grandmas back on board.

“They said ‘we will give those outfits a bit of a rest to get the ratings from the grannies and the mums that sit at home’. So we toned it down, but when we came back on air this year, the outfits came out again.

“The schoolgirl outfit, the nurse outfit, the cop outfit – if they didn’t want a sexy image why put us in those costumes?”

And Ms Steele claims she would not have been sacked if she was going out with a footballer.

“I am not the only one with a sexy image. If I was going out with (a footballer) maybe things would have been different for me.”

Ms Steele, who has been part of the show for 2 1/2 years, said Price producers Grundy’s came to her two months ago when “Playboy style” pictures of her surfaced on the internet.

She said she had posed for the “tasteful” nude shots under another name when she was 18.

Two weeks ago she was sent a letter telling her that if the pictures were not removed, she would be off the show.

“They gave me an ultimatum: ‘get them off or you are gone’.

“I rang the photographer, did everything I could, but I could not remove them, so they sacked me.”

She said she was disappointed to be leaving Price.

“I am a little bit annoyed about it, but I am also happy to move on to bigger and better things.”

Grundy’s spokesman Steve Murphy said Ms Steele was not sacked because she was booked on a weekly basis only.

Mr Murphy said: “It was unfortunate that the pictures could not be removed from the website. Unfortunately those sorts of images do not fit with the Price Is Right’s family image.”

    What a bunch of fools!!
She was the only reason i ever watched the show.
She was in a ‘league of her own’ compared to all other models on the show…..
I’m sure there would be no male who wouldn’t do anything for her, apart from a few pin dicked Grundy Execs.
